Botox and Dysport are botulism toxin that are used to paralyze the facial muscles to remove the facial wrinkles temporarily. Most effective areas are forehead (horizontal lines), glabella (vertical lines between the eyebrows), and crow’s feet lines. Typically, the effects of Botox and Dysport last about 4-6 months.

Fillers are used to fill the facial lines that are not directly caused by the actions of facial muscles. Dr Kim uses hyaluronic acid (HA) products for filling the facial lines.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a very stable product that lasts about 9-12 months. Typically injected to facial lines along the nasolabial folds, oromandibular lines (marionette lines), and other deep facial lines. It is also used for augmenting the lips, including the enhancing the lip lines and filling the fine lines along the lip line.

Restylane Silk

Restylane silk is a thinner HA product and is suited for injecting to the superficial area of the facial skin including the fine lines around eyes and lips. Because it is softer and thinner, the injected HA is not as palpable after injection avoiding the lumpiness of the injected HA.

Non-Invasive / Latisse

Latisse

Latisse is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes. Daily application of Latisse will result in a significant increase of the length of the lashes as well as thickness of the lashes. The effects are gradual and it may take as much as 2 months. The effect will be temporary, and once stopped, the lashes will return to original shape and length gradually.

Important Safety Information If you use/used prescription products for eye pressure problems, use LATISSE under doctor care. May cause brown darkening of the colored part of the eye which is likely permanent. LATISSE may cause eyelid skin darkening which may be reversible. Only apply at base of upper lashes. DO NOT APPLY to lower lid. Hair may grow outside the treatment area. If you have eye problems/surgery, consult your doctor. Common side effects include itchy and red eyes. If discontinued, lashes gradually return to previous appearance.

Embrace Active Scar Defense

embrace® Active Scar Defense is the first scar management product of its kind. The two part device includes a patented self-applicator and a silicone dressing. Once applied over the forming scar, embrace® relieves the natural tension that exists during the skin’s healing process–effectively treating the primary culprit of scarring.

Unlike cheaper scar treatments, embrace® is proven to successfully alter the outcome of scar formation by treating the root cause. Clinically proven in multiple Level 1, peer reviewed, randomized controlled trials, embrace® has been used successfully on 11,000 patients to date. Not only is embrace® reported as 2x less painful than other options, but 92% of the time patients and physicians rated scars treated with embrace® as better or much better than untreated scars.

Embrace is indicated for use in scar management on hypertrophic or keloid scars formed within the past 6 months.

It is recommended to apply embrace® 1-4 weeks after suture removal on a closed, dry incision, where no scabs are present and worn for approximately 8 weeks (about 2 months). For newly formed scars, treatment with embrace can be initiated up to 6 months post-surgery. If you scar easily or have a history of keloid scarring, embrace should be worn for 12 weeks or longer.

Biocorneum

Biocorneum is 1st and only quick drying silicone gel scar treatment with SFP30 cleared by the FDA. The gel is applied over the scar, and once dries, it forms an invisible, flexible silicone sheet. It helps prevent abnormal scarring after surgery (cosmetic or medical) and also works for scarring from all types of burns. It also prevents discoloration caused by sun-exposure by incorporating sun screen ingredients providing an SPF of 30. Biocorneum is water resistant, and make up may be worn over.

Tempsure Envi

Tempsure Envi is a non invasive facial cosmetic treatment. This procedure utilizes the RF (radiofrequency) technology to deliver heat to the tissue (skin) stimulating the collagen production within the skin. This procedure is painless, and can be repeated. The benefit of this technology is the well controlled temperature of the skin. The sensor will monitor the temperature of the skin so that controlled amount of energy is delivered to the skin. Energy delivered to the skin and dermis will stimulate the inflammation and collagen synthesis over the following 3-4 weeks. This will diminish the fine wrinkles of the face and neck.

Typical conditions treated are forehead wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines. Other indications include reduction of cellulite, hair epilation, telangiectasia, and milia.

Micro-needling with PRP

Micro needling is the minimally invasive cosmetic procedure to stimulate collagen production in the skin. The procedure involves pricking the skin with multiple tiny needles, which oscillate 600 times a minute. The needles penetrate the skin as little as 0.5 mm up to 2.5 mm depending upon the indication and location. The needle penetration cause inflammation which stimulates collagen production in the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. The procedure is combined with PRP (platelet rich plasma). The PRP is obtained from the patient’s own blood. The blood is centrifuged to isolate the platelets which has high concentration of growth factor. Using PRP combined with micro needling, the PRP is absorbed within the skin which will also help promote collagen synthesis.

Procedure is done using the numbing cream to the affected area, and no other anesthesia is needed. After the procedure, the patient is advised to avoid the sun and instructed to use sun screen. The area of treatment will turn red (looks like sun burn), and it will fade in a week or so.

You will see effects of the treatment in 2-3 weeks. Multiple treatments may be needed to get desired improvement.
