What is liposuction?
Liposuction, or simply lipo, is a type of fat-removal procedure used in plastic surgery. In the United States, liposuction is the most common cosmetic surgery common areas of liposuction include abdomen, hip, thighs, back, buttocks, calf and upper arms.
What liposuction can treat?
• Abdomen • Ankles • Arms • Buttocks • Cheeks • Chin
• Knees • Neck • Thighs • Upper arms • Waist • Hips
Am I a good candidate for Liposuction surgery?
In general, good candidates for a liposuction include:
- Adults within 30% of their ideal weight who have firm, elastic skin and good muscle tone
- Healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing
- Nonsmokers
- Individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for body contouring
What to do with the removed fat?
The fat that was removed from liposuction is usually disposed as medical waste. However, depending upon the patient’s desire, the fat can be injected to other part of the body to enhance the body contour. This includes injecting to the breasts, buttocks, or face. Injecting the fat to the buttocks is commonly called BBL (Brazilian butt lift) giving roundness and projection to the buttocks. Please keep in mind that not all fat injected would survive, and typically 50% of the injected fat will be absorbed. Therefore, in order to achieve your goal, over injection is typically required and often multiple injections are needed to achieve the goal.
What to expect after liposuction – a look at recovery and results?
It's important to keep in mind that liposuction results are not necessarily permanent. While the fat cells are removed from your body for good, some fat cells still remain and can grow. It's up to you to take good care of yourself so that you can enjoy your slimmer look for a long time. Eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water and follow a regular exercise routine. You can begin simple walking soon after the procedure and within a few weeks be ready to begin a low-intensity workout routine and build up from there. Liposuction can remove stubborn excess body fat and help you achieve your desired body contour, but it is essential to have realistic expectations and know that maintaining your new look long-term requires a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Include plenty of fresh fruits and veggies in your diet to help boost recovery and limit inflammation. Liposuction is a great confidence booster Liposuction can be life-changing for many people. It can be a great way to boost your confidence and help you to feel happier with your appearance. Knowing what to expect during the recovery can help you make a betterinformed decision to undergo liposuction and enjoy the journey to a slimmer, more contoured body.
